  • Understanding the environment of each seaport to enable an accurate virtual reconstruction using advanced transport information systems and advanced traffic management systems, (including the innovative use of real-time information systems or navigation systems using e.g. Galileo) to interact with the vehicles’ dynamic;

  • Collecting the seaport specifications, including the constraints related to the transport system operation, environment and safety, to improve interoperability and intermodality of freight transport on land and sea.

  • Synthesis of different operating scenarios to manage the faulty situations of the transportation traffic and to increase the safety of the persons, transport systems and the infrastructure.

--> Main outputs

  • Virtual simulator of a maritime port environment, interacting with an intelligent road transport system for freight routing. This tool can help the existing sea terminals to simulate the intelligent transportation system in their virtual environment, or it can help future seaport designers in integrating the intelligent road traffic system;

  • Conception of an intelligent transport prototype, which can be tested and validated within the different environments of each of the seaports within the project;

  • Supervision system of an intelligent transport system inside a real environment. It consists of the system and its environment modelling, identification, intelligent control, online surveillance and traffic management;

  • Comparative analysis of social and economic impacts of the proposed transport concept for NWE regions for maritime and extra maritime applications.
